The Grade 5 IB-PYP Exhibition 2025: Expressing Ways to Heal the World!

The Grade 5 IB-PYP Exhibition 2025: Expressing Ways to Heal the World!

The countdown has begun! The Grade 5 students of Cornerstone International Academy are about to embark on an exciting, transformative journey. One of the most anticipated events in our Primary Years Programme (PYP) is the PYP Exhibition (PYPx) – an exciting journey that challenges our learners to take ownership of their learning and make meaningful connections between their knowledge and the real world.. This isn’t just another project; it’s the culmination of years of inquiry-based learning, collaboration, and personal growth. It’s their time to shine, to question, to explore, and, most importantly, to take action!

What is PYPx?

The PYP Exhibition is the final project of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, designed for Grade 5 students. It is a student-led inquiry that allows learners to investigate issues of personal and global significance, demonstrating the skills, attributes, and knowledge they have developed throughout their PYP journey. The exhibition serves as a platform for students to engage in collaborative research, critical thinking, creativity, and action-oriented problem-solving.

Theme for PYPx 2025

Each year, our students select a subtheme inspired by the IB transdisciplinary themes, which connect learning to real-world issues. This year’s inspiring subtheme is ‘Expressing Ways to Heal the World‘ under the IB transdisciplinary theme, ‘How We Express Ourselves.’

Our students will explore how creativity, innovation, and communication, among various concepts, can drive positive change. With minds eager to make a difference, they will engage in deep research, collaborate with peers, connect with mentors, and craft innovative presentations that showcase their findings and action steps.

The PYPx Journey

The PYPx process is designed to foster independent inquiry and collaborative teamwork. Here’s what students experience:

  1. Choosing a Passion-Driven Topic – Students identify an issue that resonates with them and aligns with the theme.
  2. Research & Investigation – Using diverse sources, including books, interviews, and digital tools, students conduct extensive research.
  3. Mentorship & Collaboration – Learners collaborate with mentors, teachers, and experts to deepen their understanding.
  4. Taking Action – Beyond research, students create innovative solutions or awareness campaigns to address their chosen issues.
  5. Showcasing Findings – The exhibition culminates in an engaging presentation where students showcase their work through multimedia displays, artistic expressions, interactive presentations, and live demonstrations.

The Impact of PYPx

PYPx is more than just an academic milestone—it is an empowering experience that nurtures confidence, leadership, social responsibility and lifelong learning. Our students leave the exhibition with a profound sense of purpose, empathy, and a commitment to lifelong learning. By addressing real-world challenges, they become agents of change, equipped with the skills needed for the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and beyond.

Meet the 13 PYPx Groups!

Our incredible Grade 5 students have been teamed up into 13 dynamic PYPx groups, each focusing on expressing ways to heal the world. Each group has crafted a central idea that reflects their understanding of a real-world issue, developed their lines of inquiry, and harnessed their critical thinking to explore solutions that can drive positive change. They will conduct interviews, analyze data, and perhaps even step beyond the classroom to experience learning firsthand.
